DAY 1 AT JEU DE PAUME

Busy day at the Jeu de Paume. The club was packed for our morning session, undertandably because France were playing their opening match.

Morning session

The first matches in Pool D started around 11am with France v Spain Japon v Hong Kong. There were no upsets and the two favourites will have used this fixture to ease into the tournament.

Hong Kong dispatched Japan 3-0 in about one hour and a half.

Joey Chan bt Satomi Watanabe : 3-2 (11-4, 7-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7)

Tsz Ling Liu bt Risa Sugimoto : 3-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-8)

As far as France go, the girls started off their campaign well, beating Spain 3-0 with Laura Pomportes, Camille Serme and Coline Aumard in the line-up.

The afternoon session ended a few minutes ago. It was the start of Pool C with Malaysie v Netherlands and Australia v Austria. No upset here either …
